If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would be enjoying a cup of Earl Grey blue flower tea with a slice of a yoghurt based lemon cake from this wonderful book The Plain Cake Appreciation Society by Tilly Pamment. We agree it is a really nice and fluffy cake, and book. I say I really want to make the strawberry streusel cake next. You say that sounds divine, and I say well my name day is coming up so that could be just the excuse I need.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we have been out to see. I say we went to the cinema to see Saltburn, but we really weren’t sure what we thought of it. You say it has had mixed reviews, and I say yes, but at least there were good actors in it and Rosamund Pike was excellent.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would say that last night I went to see the classical students end of year performance at the New Zealand School of Dance. You ask how was it and I say it was lovely, and that one of the dancers has already been offered a chance to dance with Queensland Ballet. I say I love going to these performances and watching to see who goes on to dance where.
If we were having coffee…or even a up of tea…we agree to avoid all conversation about the new government. But we would talk about the month past, about our weekend trip to Martinborough and dinner at Field & Green.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would show you this beautiful box of cheese that was delivered this morning from Over the Moon Dairy. You say how lovely and I say I am looking forward to trying the pink peppercorn brie, and you says that does sound nice.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would say our plans for the evening have changed to we are just going to order pizza, and would you like to join us? You say yes and we settle down to a cosy evening.

Oh that pizza looks good! I’ll be staying. I’ve got a new recipe book from a friend I’m yet to explore Recipe Tin Eats Dinner by Magi Maehashi, have you heard of it? I think I’ll feature it next month in my WOYP post.

Your cake looks delicious!
I don’t think I’ll go to see Saltburn from a review I’ve read, but we did see One Life with Anthony Hopkins today (British Film Festival) and that was good.

I wouldn’t bother with Saltburn other than the acting if that makes sense. I have heard good things about One Life.

I cook everyday. My blog started out as a cooking blog. These kind of plain cakes are my most favorite.

I would say that there is a lot of pleasant topics for conversations here. I haven’t been to the movies in ages. I’ve had periods of my life when I’ve been to the cinema a lot, almost every week, to periods when I never go to the cinema. Right now it’s a never period…it was probably two years ago since I last went. I’ve asked my daughter if she wants to go many times, but lately she haven’t felt up to it. It does require some planning now when we live in the countryside, but that’s going to change when we move into town. Perhaps we’ll go more often then, who knows? I hope your new week is absolutely fabulous!

Thank you! An interesting week so far…. I like going to the cinema just for the experience. Hope you manage to get to one soon!
