We have been lucky to have had many sunny days: temperatures are rising, skies are blue (well, mostly) and it really feels that we are heading to summer. I don’t have anything new to report this week, so will just take you on a walk through the Botanic Gardens instead. Anyway, thanks to Jim at Garden Ruminations, for hosting Six on Saturday, whose knowledge of all things plants and gardening makes him an ideal host and move on to what can be see at the moment outside.
Near the cable car entrance, you can see these gorgeous white rhododendron. Stunning, especially against the blue skies.

This beautiful creature is often spotted in the gardens. He is a regular visitor and I believe lives somewhere nearby. Now I no longer walk through the gardens to work, I don’t see him, so it was lovely to stop and say hello.

These gorgeous orange rhododendron were spotted in the Scented Garden, such an amazing colour and hard to miss.

These iris were also in this section of the garden – such beautiful soft, silky petals and such a perfect shade of purple too.
There is always a fantastic display of magnolia near the Sound Shell and towards the Duck Pond. They are all looking quite fabulous right now.

Finally, managed to capture this bee enjoying a rhododendron flower.

As usual, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world. Hope you are all well and enjoying your gardens in whatever the season is with you. We are away next weekend, so there probably won’t be a post from me, and posting early today as we are off to meet friends for a curry.

Glorious flowers, Barbara and they certainly brightened my day. I’m glad you caught up with an old ‘friend’ enjoying the sunshine. x

Hi, Barbara – I agree with others from the Northern Hemisphere. Even though we have had an unusally warm and sunny autumn so far, It is a delight to see your beautiful Spring gardens!

It was a delight to see your colourful spring just as we descended into months of greyness.

I love rhododendron, thank you so much for sharing these beauties. I am actually looking into if there is a particular variety that will do well in our area. I would love to have one or two in my garden. I mostly have edibles there, but some perennials can be for their own beauty and the pollinators, right 🙂 I’ve read that it is much better to have more than one for them to thrive, and I am trying to figure out where I could have them. There’s so many variables to think about 🙂 Have a wonderful new week!

The bees and birds do love rhododendron. I am sure you can find a small one to fit.

Yes 🙂 There was a house covered in Rhodondendron close to my fathers house in Spain when I was little. It amazed me every time we passed by.
