If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would agree it has been a while since we caught up for a good chat. You say, well you did move house, and I say yes that is true and life has been a bit messy and busy since.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would ask how the unpacking and sorting is going. I would say I love the kitchen with a great pantry, lots of storage and windows to watch the neighbourhood pets (at least 3 cats and 1 dog) and other goings on. The new sofa arrived on Tuesday, however, the study is still a big mess, we haven’t sorted the linens and towels storage situation yet and as for books…. You smile and say ah yes books…..
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would also talk about the good things this month, from nice lunches to some sunshine, to getting a bread and pastry delivery to, of course the World of Wearable Art. I would show you the programme and we marvel at some of the works.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you about the little calligraphy class I attended last week at Wellington Apothecary and how much fun it was. I would show you some of my efforts, the templates we were given to practice, and the wonderful little pallet of gold ink that you mix with water then paint on to the nib. You say would you like to do more and I say yes.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would avoid talking about the forthcoming election and instead talk about our plans for October which include ballet, a concert and a work trip for me and you say your diary is also filling up with things.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would ask you if you would like to stay to dinner? I am going to make a curried fish soup from Steffi Knowles-Dellner’s lovely book Lagom. You say oh yes please that sounds delicious, so we settle down for the evening with good food and conversation.

Your curried fish soup looks interesting, what type of fish are you using or is it a mix of seafood?

Thanks…today I used monkfish as it was on offer, and added prawns from the freezer.

I love the format of this post altogether, it’s such a warm and fuzzy way to do an update 💖 I also noticed the Moomin mug — not one that I remember seeing, though I’ve lost count of them by now. We had a relative who used to insist on getting us some every Christmas, so now we’ve got quite a collection.

Oh thank you! I just counted – we have 10 Moomin mugs! It is always fun to bring them out and we do at least use them.

My oh my! Why do I live so far away? Wonderful that life has settled down enough for you that you can write one of these delightful posts, which I always look forward to. And that calligraphy is lovely.

Well…one day you might just get to NZ? Yes things are slowly settling down but when I look at the room we are calling the study…there is still a lot to do! The calligraphy was so much fun to try – I would really like to find time and space to do some more.

I would love to be able to write neatly but the calligraphic arts have always escaped me. If we were having a cup of tea (currently Lapsang Souchong) I would show you my scrawl and you would be revolted.

🙂 I am sure I would not be revolted! My ordinary writing is not always beautiful, and if my primary school teachers could see me doing this they would not believe it!

I really do need to make that curried fish soup & was more than a tad jelly when my bestie posed about it this morning (WOW, that is, not the fish soup)…

We’ve been in our new move for 6 months now. We downsized & it’s been a challenge finding places for our little extras. I’ve never ate fish soup but would like to try it sometime.

What a lovely coffee chat and evening 🙂 It does sound like you really like you new home. Is it far from where you used to live?

Thanks! No it isn’t far from the old place – about 25 minutes walk I guess!
