If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would say how nice it is to catch up in the middle of the week. We would talk about the stormy weather on Monday night, and how Charlie had been out all night, coming home the next day cold and hungry, but how he was fine after lots to eat and a long sleep.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would show you some of the flowers in the garden. We would talk about how lovely the lavender looks, about what I intend to plant for the coming seasons and this beautiful anemone which has sprung up. I take you to the back of the house to look at the magnificent magnolia which I admit has featured in a few recent blog posts. We talk about how lovely the Botanic Gardens are looking just now, and hope the weather is good for Tulip Sunday this weekend.

If we are having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about things coming up in our diaries from comedy to cinema plans to dance to the World of Wearable Art. We would talk about plans for the summer…which of course here also means Christmas. I would tell you that it is seven years ago since we first visited New Zealand, and you say, really, that long ago? I say yes, but it feels like yesterday.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you I bought some of the first of this season’s asparagus. A bit expensive still, but who can resist? So I say, why don’t you stay and enjoy some of this with us, and celebrate Karl being home from Europe? You, of course, say yes.

You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
You bet I would! All those plans sound marvelous.
