It is no secret to regular readers that I walk to work through a part of the Botanic Gardens. I am lucky I can do this, and those minutes in the morning are such a great way to clear your head, think, and prepare for the day, that I can honestly say I don’t even mind walking when it is raining. It is still spring here, and we are woken each morning by, at times, a very loud dawn chorus, that tells us to rise and shine (as best we can).
The daily walk just now is punctuated by early sunlight shining through the leaves of the trees, of the sounds of birds, and by new sights each day. This week I saw these cute little ducklings with their mum, who was trying to get them into the water in a little streamlet away from the duck pond.

This week I spotted a young tui, who seems to breakfast on the fuchsias each day. At least, I think it is the same bird, as he is always in the same area of the gardens.

Sometimes, I take time to stop and think, about the important things in life, rather than the desk that is waiting for me at the other end of my walk. These are precious moments we should all make the most of.
