This week, I had the luxury of two days off work – Wednesday which I wrote about here, and Friday. I really needed that space to think and reflect, and it worked. Sometimes you just have to stop and take time for yourself. On Friday I got to an Xtend Barre class, ate a scone (more on that later), listened to podcasts, wandered about Cuba Street and returned empty peanut butter jars to Fix and Fogg. Honestly, I could not have asked for a better day. Here are some of the other small pleasures from this week.
Scones x 2
Yes folks I ate two scones this week…one on Friday at Loretta on Cuba Street and one at my usual Saturday stop at Ekor Bookshop and Cafe. Tea and scones – one of life’s little luxuries.

The lavender is blooming again

Food and food shopping
To be honest, this week’s food shopping was done at a bit of a rush in between scone eating (well….almost….), and we found lots of small things we forgot to buy. Anyway, picked up some black garlic and a loaf of sour dough bread on Saturday, some silverbeet and yams on Friday, a jar of lime marmalade when I was in Loretta and a block of dairy free cheddar from V1 Vegan Store on Cuba Street (review to follow). In case you are thinking this lot would be hard to combine, there were some sausages, chicken and bacon in there too. Of course, this week I also ate oysters, which was clearly a small pleasure.

A wonderful podcast
If you haven’t discovered Jenny Mustard and her partner David, and their brilliant podcasts, then subscribe now. At least, I enjoy them, and particularly loved the most recent one Our Weird Swedish Vacation. When they started to discuss how good Swedish crisps are, I couldn’t help but laugh…remember the dill flavoured ones I found in Auckland last week? Yes, I felt just the same way as they did.
The weather….or maybe not…
Friday was a good day, and Saturday a lovely sunny day with temperatures reaching 17C here in Wellington (reminder: it is winter). However, on Sunday and today, Monday, the wet weather returned. Ah well, time to light a candle and make a cup of tea.

Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for the original idea. Check out Middle Europe too.

Mmmm… your scone looks really nice… might even tempt me to bake some! 🙂
