I had started this post, yesterday, Sunday, but New Zealand has been hit by a series of earthquake so don’t feel much like finishing off a small pleasures post as usual for a Monday. The first big shake was a 7.5 at just after midnight near Culverden in the South Island. I even felt it up in Hamilton which was quite something. This was followed by a series of string quakes further north near Kaikoura ranging from 5.6 to 6.2.
There were tsunami warnings (now lifted), and Wellington CBD was virtually closed today, with broken glass everywhere and buildings being inspected. My office was closed, and Karl couldn’t go to work either. Trains are cancelled, there have been landslips, but only two reported deaths so far.
Normal service will be resumed soon.

This story was the first when I turned on my phone today…hope you all stay safe!!
