Walking, I believe, is the best way to see a city. A bus tour might give you an orientation to a new place and tourists on bicycles are a menace (not knowing the rules of the road and wobbling about), but walking let’s you explore, get lost, find interesting things and stop when you will.
During our time in Stockholm, we walked a lot. Uphill, downhill, through quiet streets and busy. It was lovely and tiring at the same time. On Sunday, we walked around Södermalm, stopping for lunch, walking about familiar places.
