Six on Saturday 09.07.22

Eugh…I have succumbed to the dreaded spicy flu aka Covid. So we are now in isolation for 7 days, and I am feeling tired and lethargic and generally rubbish. Looking on the bright side, it is good to get it now before we head off on trips overseas. Anyway, today it is time for Six on Saturday when The Propagator encourages us to share what is going on in our gardens in all parts of the world. Check out the participant guide if you want to join in. Pictures taken earlier in the week when I hadn’t yet tested positive.

There isn’t that much new this week, and I have no energy to weed or even do a proper status check on bulbs, but have been monitoring the mahonia berries which are still to turn blue.

There have been a few more hellebore buds, including the white one featured in the featured image above.

Another good thing…I haven’t lost my sense of smell, so I can still enjoy the rosemary (this plant is full of flowers), lemon balm and pineapple sage.

So to the little lonely dahlia, which is still looking pretty and out of season. It cheers me up though, being stuck at home.

At number five, the little red camellia that we share with our neighbours is still flowering. It is always first, so good to see it still going strong.

Finally, the camellias at the back of the house. the one that is the same variety as the one at the front of the house but gets less light is now in flower. The other bush is also in full flower. I still haven’t managed to get a picture of the second white bush – it is just too awkward to get to – but will see what I can do for next week when hopefully I will have a bit more energy.

As usual, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world. Hope you are all well and enjoying your gardens in whatever the season is with you.

  2. Oh gear, I think my comment disappeared into outer space. Try again. First I hope you feel better soon. My son tested positive last week but only had slight cold symptoms. Meanwhile, I’m really looking forward to seeing those blue mahonia berries. The herbs and camellias continue to look healthy and so colourful.

  5. I’m sorry to hear about your bout with the Spicy Flu (love that). I hope by now you are fully recovered — and immune from other servings. Your winter garden is lovely. Thanks for finding the beauty for us, even though I’m sure you would have preferred to stay in bed.
