It is already the end of March – can you believe it? The gingko tree in the Botanic Gardens is slowly turning to its autumnal golden yellow, the mornings are getting darker and the evenings cooler. A bit of a brief post this week and nothing new to report really either, although I finally got around to ordering some bulbs. It is also Saturday and time for Six on Saturday when The Propagator encourages us to share what is going on in our gardens in all parts of the world. Check out the participant guide if you want to join in.
You can tell it is autumn part 1. Actually, the picture below could be any season – it is always green out there. I do promise though this picture was taken on Friday!
You can tell it is autumn part 2 with lots of buds appearing on the Ticomanthe Speciosa or Three Kings Vine.
You can tell it is autumn part 3. I swept and tidy up all the decking on Tuesday, then we had quite a spectacular thunder storm, and this was the side of the house (that gets no light hence no pots, just an old beer crate that was saved for friends who then moved…) and the front of the house the next day.
And so for some cheery things, namely the nasturtiums. I’m collecting seeds to pickle (as per Fred) but in the meantime I am enjoying the flowers.
And so to herb corner, and the new echinacea flower is looking good. I’ve also included the rue and one of the curry plants this week. I picked a lot of tarragon this week and made a jar of tarragon vinegar to use as the days shorten.
And finally, the Japanese anemones in all their glory…no words are necessary I think.
That is my six this week, and as usual, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world. Hope you are all well and enjoying your gardens in whatever the season is with you.

The first photo is really nice, this kind of heavenly view that we don’t have around here! The tree fern is the best exemple to me.

The anemones are beautiful! The Nasturtiums look good too, and their pickled seed is delicious! I must check my Echinacea for flowers, as I planted out some new seedlings about a month or two ago. Your herbs look great.

We always eat in nasturtiums in salads, but I hadn’t heard of pickling them. I’ll have to give it a go in the fall!

You can pickle the seeds and then use them like capers. Works really well!

Love how lush & green everything. Surrounded by trees here also is great but as soon as I start raking the driveway & cleaning up the breeze starts & I am sure all the leaves are laughing at me. Your deck looks so cosy.

What a beautiful collection of nasturtiums. I am going to try to grow some again this year – last year’s efforts ended in total failure. But I love the look and taste of them too much to give up.
